Special

Am vainly searching for my mojo lately as far as card making is concerned - really as far as a lot of things are concerned!

This is another one of those - 'I think it's not toooo bad but could have done it better' efforts. Trouble is don't know what I could have done better... perhaps the sewing machine should have been stamped onto a frame or decoupaged to make it stand out a bit more?

I did consider this but when I set out to make the card I wanted it to be somewhere between CAS and 'frilly and fancy' and a bit more 'flat' than my usual multi layered efforts!

The papers are called 'For the Record' by Raspberry Road. Some digi papers I find really bright and not my cup of tea but I really like these - they all co-ordinate beautifully and the set is such a pretty one.

Used Kraft card as a base, layered the papers onto black card after distressing and sponging with Antique Linen DI then stitched (not very well I might add).

The stamps were a free set with a crafting magazine - I don't normally buy crafting mags  but paid for this one 'cos I wanted the stamps!!

Black satin edged organza ribbon tied round and a huge bit of blingy stuck in the centre of the bow - the blingy was in fact an old ring and I just used a pair of pliers to remove the front from the back! Happily too I found a single black 'dew drop' in my stash so popped that onto the bottom corner.

Used more of the papers on the inside to tie it all together.

All in all don't suppose it's too bad - might do another similar and swap the placement of sentiment and sewing machine.....

If you, like me, are experiencing freezing weather conditions I wish you all a warm and snuggly day in your crafty spaces! x

Its lovely Viv, love the B and W colour combo, very striking. The image is lovely. RR papers are so nice I have quite a few including this, I think I have a bit of an obsession with digi papers - far too many!! Hugs Susan x

I love the fact that the stitching isn't perfectly straight - it seems just right to me. I do the same - buy a mag for the stamps, (then pass it on to a friend who isn't into stamping), that way I don't feel I've been too extravagant! X

How wonderful, Viv! A striking centerpiece on your ribbon, and a very vintage feel with the antiqued black and white. Distressing and stitching really adds more to your textures, too.

Oh Viv .. .. it is beautiful!!!

I have this digi set too .. .. must have similar tastes.

Have to admit to being slightly disappointed though. I was hoping you were going to tell me where I could by that gorgeous sparkly embellishment .. .. but instead you have burst my bubble and taken a pair of pliers to your jewellery LOL!!

Hope you have a good Easter break.

Love Jules xx

It's stunning Viv but I understand what you mean about doing it better, I often find that syndrome lol! I think if anything you could change it would be making the sewing machine more prominent but I don't mean that to take away from what is already a gorgeous card so please don't be offended :-)

Enjoy your weekend xx
