The lovely Bonnie is our challenge setter this month at CAS Mix Up. A Watercolour theme is the rotation this month and Bonnie has chosen 'OFF THE EDGE' as her challenge.
As we are in November I thought perhaps it might be a good idea to make a Christmas card for my stash. My dear husband💖 bought me my Misti for Christmas a few years ago - and I can honestly say it has been the best Christmas present EVER! Don't know what I would do without it --- or how I managed before - my stamping must have been awful!I cut a small piece of watercolour card and positioned the stamp off the edge at the top. Using my Arteza Watercolour Pens I started by inking the Pine Cones, spritzing with a little water after I'd inked the stamp.
I did this a couple of times until I got the colour I wanted, then did the same with the pine needles. I then moved some of the colour round a little with a wet brush to the right of the cones as there were a few bare spaces.
Hope you can join us this month for our last challenge of the year - we have MICHELE as our wonderful guest designer - please go and visit and see her beautiful make and of course, please pop over to the rest of my friends on the CAS Mix Up Design Team - they love visitors as much as me! x
Just lovely xx

Viv your MISTI has been a very good friend while making this gorgeous card - being able to stamp, mist, stamp makes all the difference with marker inking! Each layer adds to the artistic feel of your card - so beautiful!

This is divine, I love the watery appeal to those cones/pine needles and the fusion of greens and browns. This is watercolour magic when this happens and that's what I love about this technique. You definitely optimize your Misti Present by exploiting it in the best way. Stamping at opposite ends beautifully unifies this panel. Such a special Christmas card.
ReplyDeleteI too will be visiting regularly. Thank you for all your encouraging words, you are special Viv. xx
Lovely water coloring and I like how you added the greenery to the bottom too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful CAS card and love the watercoloured pinecones.

What a lovely card - Just the right amount of stamping on it - perfect! I too am a Misti fan, none of the others do it for me as much as the Misti. Best thing I ever bought, got the two smallest ones but would love the A4 one.

What a beautiful Christmas card, and you've definitely nailed this watercolour technique. I know what you mean about the MISTI ...... I wouldn't be without mine! xx
ReplyDeleteAmazing watercolouring of these beautiful pinecones and pine sprigs Viv. I love that you added just a litte of the pine sprig in the opposite corner. Really balances this beautiful design. xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Viv! Love this one -- great image and you've balanced it beautifully.
ReplyDeleteYou have achieved a lovely soft look with your water colouring technique.i could sit and look at this all day.! Hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful off the edge card. Stamping with the misti sure does help and your water colouring looks fabulous Viv x. Such a beautiful Christmas card x.
ReplyDeleteI'm so with you on the MISTI, Viv. I was told I couldn't use it because of the magnets vis-a-vis my ICD, but then a couple of years later one of the techs checking my device happened to be a card maker and she said I was fine as long as I didn't stay too close for a long period of time. YIPPIE SKIPPIE, I was off and running and I can't imagine how pale my old cards must have been!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, that's not why you called. I am a huge swooner of pine needles and pine cones on a Christmas card and I adore your composition of having some peek-a-boo needles on the opposite corner! Thank you for the inspiration! Keep safe! Hugs, DD
The misti was the best thing ever invented in my opinion! I ruined many cards until I got one. ll that said... your card is beautiful Viv! Love that you even stamped on the bottom edge.
ReplyDeleteThis card really rocked me it is striking, CAS and wonderful x
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful pine cones Viv and love the colours used on the accompanying foliage and love the small section of leaves repeated at the bottom to give this wonderful off the edge look, and finished with the lovely sentiment inked in brown to match. x
ReplyDeleteI can honestly say, I use my MISTI on every single card or project I create:-) Funny...I used Christmas $ for my MISTI, which I have had for several years:-) I LOVE how you stamped and watercolored your pine cones and needles off the edge and then stamped your sentiment and added a few stamped needles in the opposite corner. Wonderful way to balance your CAS design, Viv. Your simple framing is perfect too. TFS my friend. Love and Hugs...Nancy

ReplyDeleteYour watercolored stamping of pine cone and branch are just beautiful Viv - a lovely design coming in off the corner!
ReplyDeleteTook me a while to come see how you did this. You give me hope that I can add water color to a stamp and have some kind of success. This is very striking and heartfelt all at the same time.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pine cones coming out of the corner - just love your coloring, Viv!! Misting, then stamping and moving the color makes a gorgeous look!!
ReplyDeleteStunning card, you've inspired me to have a go myself. Katrina x
