Dragonflies

(Picture heavy post!)
The Twofer challenge always makes me think and this month I had to think more than usual!

It's taken me a long time to  make a decision and to come up with something - which is madness when you consider the prompt was 'YOUR CHOICE'!

Eventually I came up with these -
I've had this Stampendous stamp for ever! Forget the last time I used it so made up for lost time and used it twice.

I stamped and clear embossed then added some Brushos. I am still not very good with Brushos and this panel was my third attempt.

A little grungy overstamping with a hexagon stamp and an arrow stamp. Liked the hexagon, didn't like the arrow so overstamped it with the 'Make Art' which fortunately for me looked OK!

My second card involved more embossing!

Gold embossed the dragonfly
then fussy cut, getting rid of the flourish and the vines. I painted the wings with several Mica Powders so they have a little shimmer.

The background is an old stencil from Imagination Crafts - I used Tea Dye for the Bullrush tops and Twisted Citron for the leaves.

I lightly inked some Speckled Egg DI for the sky and stamped the sentiment in the Tea Dye ink.

Am going to share the second card at
MTTC- Stencil It

  8. Your brusho background looks fabulous to me, Viv ... so cool with the overstamped hexagons ... and of course that oh so delicate dragonfly! Your second card's a stunner ... the mica colouring over the gold embossing on the dragonfly captures the nature of these lovely insects beautifully ... and the softly stencilled scene sets it off wonderfully! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Twofer! Anita :)

  11. You know how much I love dragonflies so I'm in love, thump, thump! (That's my heart.) Third time's a charm for that awesome mixed media background, Viv, especially since you used my fav colors. Great save on the arrow by overstamping with the sediment! And your fussy-cut dragonfly with its gossamer wings is brilliant flying among the beautiful bulrushes! Love the yellow green grass and mat and the soft sky. Thank you for playing in TCC #36! Keep well! Hugs, Darnell

  12. I understand this. She usually tells us what to do and leaving it up to us makes it harder. You came up with two great cards. I love the gold embossed dragonfly and the brusho background looks beautiful with the black one.

Your Twofers are brilliant Viv and love the stencilled bulrushes with the pretty dragonfly with its shimmery wings, and the other more arty one with the beautiful Brusho background, and the dragonfly, flourish and sentiment which stand out beautifully in black, and with some added little circles and the hexagon stencilling finished perfectly.
