January Blues

Time for our first challenge of the New Year at Stamping Sensations.
Our theme this month is - COLD AND FROSTY COLOURS - so blues, lilacs, whites etc
I messed about with Alcohol Inks before Christmas and used up all the backgrounds I had made on Christmas Cards.
This 'grid' card was really fiddly to do.
I have a Dienamics Die that cut out the grid which was fine - it was all the stamping and embossing that took forever!
This was definitely not one for mass producing.

I used Sail Boat Blue and Stream A.I's and added a bit of Silver onto a piece of aluminium foil and used a technique demonstrated by Loll here to cover the Yupo Paper.

The stamps are just random ones from my Christmas Stash.

The squares were matted onto white then onto matt silver card before being mounted onto the base card.

Just a word of warning - you have to be very careful heat embossing onto inked Yupo! If you hold the heat gun too close or over heat the embossing powder, the Yupo behaves like shrink plastic and curls up!

We have a great prize again on offer this month -
so get out all your new stash and come and join us.
If you need inspiration, my teamies have come up with some great projects which am sure will give you some ideas over on the challenge blog.

Please remember though - WE ARE A STAMPING CHALLENGE - .
So must see a stamped image, sentiment or quote as the focal element of your artwork , this means:
Stamping must be the central point of attention and interest
I hope everyone is recovered from the New Year festivities! Thanks for stopping by today - have a great day whatever you're doing! x

I know where you are coming from time wise making this style Viv, but was worth all your effort as it's a gorgeous creation.

Felt sorry for Mr K last night, her seems so down that there was no more he could do to persuade Philippe and so resigned there wasn't even the usual grin. And I don;t see Lemar as a like for like replacement.

This is a lovely card Viv but I must say it sounds very complicated and quite time consuming but I do love the end result.Love the colour choice and the silver and white compliment each other very well. xx

Love this design and I'm inspired to do something similar myself. The colours are so pretty and with the silver it really makes for an eye catching card. I do know what you mean about heat and the Yupo- from experience!

Fabulous card. Wow! What is the dienamic that cut the grid? Is it retired?

I love this! I haven't done an Inchies card for ages, but you're inspiring me! It has so many of my favourite things - Yupo, alcohol inks, heat embossing (love the alternating white and silver), and my favourite colour of blue!

I can see there would be a fair bit of fiddling about but the final effect is lovely. I bought a punch so I could do this kind of card but don't! I do like the embossing against the blue.

What a gorgeous make Viv! All the time consuming embossing was well worth it. I have yupo paper but not yet got to grips with it, I struggle with the fact it's very thin (I know, that's daft!). Maybe I should give it another go, i'm off to check out Loll's technique xx

An Occasional Genius said...

Hmmm, having just watched Loll's video it looks like I have the wrong yupo, Loll's looks more like card than mine, mine is seriously flimsy paper. So the question now is do I purchase some good stuff or just not venture in to the world of yupo?! x

This is gorgeous Viv and love the two blue alcohol inks with the silver, a bit fiddly to do but was definitely worth the effort, and the circular sentiment goes beautifully. x
