Holly and Ivy

I took a pic of this card that i finished yesterday and intended to save it for a later post but onto my reading list has just popped up the brand new challenge over at CAS Christmas which has the theme of Birds!
Now I know Halloween is approaching but to have a challenge theme for a card I literally just finished is - well - a little bit spooky!!

This card was just made to go into my stash for me to send at Christmas and has used up a few odd bits of watercolour card.

Simple brick embossed background, a couple of dies and a stamp! Oh and a leftover piece of vellum too!

The stamp was a freebie which has never been used, coloured with watercolours and fussy cut.
Both ivy and holly dies also watercoloured and I added a bit  of Red Nuvo drops to the holly (not sure they look  like berries but you get the idea!) and a little bit of white embossing powder to the ivy leaves.

The sentiment stamp is an old wood backed one, part of a set of  Papermania Christmas sentiment stamps I bought when I embarked on my card making a long time ago. I used Olympia Green Versafine ink then clear embossed.

Didn't take too long to make and is reasonably flat so will be OK to post too!
Popping over to

HLS CAS Christmas - Vellum
ABC Christmas - U for Upon and V for Very Quick
THAIC - A/Goes

Back to the inky mess on the craft desk - think I need to clear up a bit! Thanks for calling in. x

This bird is so prettily coloured and love the look of the die cut holly with that bit of snowy embossing which is perfect Viv. The slightly darker green for the holly is lovely too, and the red berries show up beautifully against the white brick wall. x

I really like how you have coloured the sprig of ivy. How spooky that timing of your card was. Hugs Mrs A.

Beautiful design Viv! The white-on-white brick background gives the card a lot of texture while maintaining a CAS design. Your watercoloured bird is sweet and looks right at home sitting on the ivy with a holly branch in it's mouth. Adding a bit of white embossing on the ivy gives them a lovely variation of colour. Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Christmas. xx
