Some time ago I surprised OH by telling him he needed to drink more beer...... he obliged for a short while then decided that even for art's sake consumption had to be curtailed. No matter - I had enough beer cans by then.
The challenge at Less Is More this week is to use metal. My carefully stored stash of flattened and washed beer cans has been systematically used on various projects but there was the remains of one can left which was just big enough for what I wanted.
Cut out the beer can with a leaf shaped nestie die.
Out with the Alcohol Inks! I thought about using shades of green but decided that although hopefully Spring is on it's way, I like Autumn colours better.
I used Butterscotch, Caramel, Sunset Orange and Red Pepper.
Leaf duly coloured, I turned it over and began to emboss the back with a metal embossing tool. Most of it was done freehand and I'm happy with the way it turned out.
Even the small bits of can left were utilised by cutting out the sentiment and two tiny corners - not a scrap of can left!
I dyed the string with Distress Inks Dried Marigold and Tea Dye and used an Embossabilities folder for the woodgrain background.
As this was made using a scrap of a beer can I am joining in the fun at the Snippets Playground this week!

Still chuckling over your hubby falling for that one. Love your resourcefulness though. Also love the card. Are you giving it to the mister, with a smile of course. You are obviously feeling better.
Wow Viv - that really is one stunning card, how cleverly done with just a beer can. Love it!
Glad you're feeling a bit better :)

This is fab Viv, I never realised you could use your dies on beer cans. I am going to tell my DH to get slurping! The church in the picture is St Chads in Poulton-le-Fylde. Susan xx
Thanks for the kind comment. This is lovely and what a great idea using alcohol inks to colour the metal - that's all the excuse I need to go shopping as I don't have any alcohol inks in my stash!!

Great beer can tip. I'm a cider drinker, no doubt Scrumpy Jack cans go through the cuttlebug just as well. Love your card, the autumnal shades and dyed string. Yes Ian Gillan was well tasty in his youth!
Love this technique, and when I did it, I used soda cans. Your choice of alcohol colors made a stunning golden-copper leaf that just gleams. Loved the died trims too. The tiny corners just drew the eye around the embossing and great idea to even color the metallic sentiment. Will have to remember this idea! Beautiful card. See ya in the Playground. TFS & Hugs
