CAS Watercolour is 2 years old! Hard to believe it's been that long since the challenge started but Happy Birthday! Their challenge this month is a colour one chosen by Bonnie - Orange/Green and Brown
and the lovely Mac is hosting the CAS Mix Up challenge - and the elements for that are Metal/Stamping/Your Own Choice. (So mine was Embossing!) This card was never intended to fit the 2 challenges but I think it contains all the elements!
The leaves were cut using blue metal dies so maybe Marianne Dies? Anyway, I cut them out using some leftover watercolour card then coloured them with water soluble wax pastels, using the 3 colours that Bonnie stipulated in varying degrees of depth.Another leftover piece used for the wood embossed background which I attached to the base card.
I used Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink for the sentiment which is from SU and cut out with a stitched die.
So CAS Watercolour sorted! When I'd finished though I felt the card was lacking something but didn't know what.
Then I remembered some gold wire which I had - after spending 20 minutes on my hands and knees under the desk I emerged clutching the wire - which I remember saving and thinking it would come in useful.... have no idea where it came from.
I just added it around the sentiment and curled it round the top leaf - am hoping that wire counts as metal but if it doesn't am sure someone will tell me!

This is such a fabulous card Viv. Love the colours and the effect on those glorious leaves. The texture on the dry embossed background shows off the beautiful leaves, metal wire and sentiment to perfection. Glad you found the gold wire under your desk....great exercise...LOL x

Stunning card Viv...love the colours of your leaves and the touch of gold wire to finish it off. bet you are really chuffed with this one!...and using up old stash too! Classy!! xx
The colours of your fall leaves are gorgeous Viv! I'm partial to maple leaves living in Canada. :) So pretty with the splashes of fall colours. Great dimension and texture from your dry embossed woodgrain background. The wire is just the icing on the cake. It's an unexpected element that adds shine, texture and makes this a wonderful mixed media design. It was worth all teh work of searching!! Thank you so much for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up and CAS Watercolour! xx
It never ceases to amaze me how everyone comes up with such interesting ways to use metal, and this is no exception Viv. The loosely coiled gold wire looks great tucked behind the prettily coloured leaves, and a great sentiment too. x
Beautiful such gorgeous colours and that's a perfect sentiment glad its not just me who hunts for things for ages I did the exact same thing on Monday. .Love and hugs Carole x
Beautiful card Viv, pleased you found the wire as it sets off the leaves beautifully

I think the wire definitely counts as metal and what a fantastic idea to add it! I love the curly cues it makes and how well it goes with those beautiful watercolor leaves! Love the woodgrain embossing too! A good choice! Thanks so much for sharing this with us at CAS Mix Up and CAS Watercolour!
I'm sure that your card covers both challenges admirably. Love those leaves. I have done in the garden that look just like that!! Hugs Mrs A.
What a beauty Viv! The fall leaves atop the woodgrain dry embossed card base is perfect. The wire addition is so complimentary and original too, perfect for the challenge. A beautiful card!
Thanks so much for joining us at CAS Mix Up! xx
What beautiful watercolored leaves against the cream woodgrain embossed panel - the light swirls of wire give the illusion of wind swirling with the leaves! thanks for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up!

What a beautiful card!I love those leaves and the embossing. I even love the sentiment in the center like that with the leaves coming out from it, but what I am really crushing on is the metal wire you used. I think it looks so great on your card! That was a great use for that metal wire. Thanks for joining CAS Watercolour for Oct! Hugs, Brenda
