This month's challenge at CAS Mix Up has been set by Loll.
It's time to use a stencil and the challenge is 'STENCIL MONOPRINT'. This is one of my fave ways to make a background using a stencil although I confess I am still struggling as no house move date has been fixed yet so concentrating and creativity are a little thin on the ground!
I opted for a masculine card as I never have a lot spare in my stash -
The circular frame is supposed to look a little like a porthole!
My little boat being tossed about by the waves was stamped direct onto the background, stamped again and fussy cut then paper pieced after colouring.
I lightly inked through the stencil as normal to give the background of the card a bit of interest and added a couple of birds and a sentiment.

There's very little movement on the house front, we are in the hands of others further down the chain and can only hope they don't drag things out unnecessarily.

Oh, how I love a scene like this, but it's especially creative how you did the positive and negative of the stencil. I'm even more inspired now! I'm sorry it's taking sooooo long to get everything settled with your house. It's been quite a journey for you, and not a very happy one.

Perfect design for a man and I love the effect of the very subtle colored stenciling on the background.
I am impressed that you can create any cards when you still have not been able to move into your new home, Viv. I love how your paper pieced sailboat is being tossed around on your stencil monoprint waves. Your stamped flying birds, porthole frame and sentiment were the perfect additions. TFS my friend. Clever. Using the stencil for both your monoprint and for the background was a great idea. It ties the design together beautifully. And that boat is an ideal focus point. What a fun way to use your monoprint. Truly great card with a great sentiment.

We have three new heighbors and they tell us the moves were not all fun and without problems. Hang in there.

This is a very pretty seascape Viv with the monoprinted waves in the blues and green, and the round pierced frame does give the impression of a porthole, and the sweet little boat and seagull finish it perfectly. So sorry that things have not been going well on the house buying front and having gone back to something I obviously missed I see that you have had to start the purchase on a second house...how frustrating for you! I hope that things progress well from now on. x
I love your paper pieced boat and like Val above thought what a great porthole you had made. Hope you get a move date soon. It is so frustrating when you are ready but others in the chain are not. My Nephew and his wife (they are both teachers) were hoping to move this last week as it was half term for them but with no chain (person above already in a home and a buy to let purchasing from them) there has still been a hold up. the stencil is a perfect addition to your images and sentiment, the monoprint also adds that special touch.

Great choice of stencil for your ocean scene Viv, the monoprint is perfect looking through the porthole and then the waves sponged lightly on the rest of your card.
You really have captured that little boat being tossed about on the waves Viv. And totally inspired to have us looking through the porthole! Your impending move sounds like a bit of a nightmare. I can't believe things haven't changed in the UK with the dreaded chain. That doesn't't happen in Australia at all - you put a deposit down and you're 100% committed regardless of what's happening elsewhere in the chain!
This makes me feel peaceful Viv... Love the stencil work, though I have never tried that technique... Hoping I will find time
