Peace and Quiet?

So enjoying playing with the recently acquired 'new to me' Penny Black Stamps.
They make me look like a Watercolour Superstar (which I most definitely am not as the only thing I can actually draw is a pair of curtains...)

Anyway this stamp (Adornments) is the latest addition to my (very) small PB collection 😭  but I am hoping that perhaps Christmas may bring a couple more... (the last sentence for the benefit of my other half πŸ’in case he reads this post πŸ˜‰)

I washed the background with Weathered Wood DI and it has a real soft shading to it in real life.
I am also feeling quite contented as I have written and posted all the cards, have put another dose of brandy 🍷 into the Christmas cake this morning and have wrapped up the (very few) presents we exchange.
So my day is now mine to do what I want with! (Guess where I am going - CLUE - it involves going upstairs!)

Is it just me or is it unusually quiet here in Blogland?
My visitors are getting fewer and fewer with each post! I often wonder what it's like to have big families at this time of year and be completely stressed out with no time to think about anything other than getting everything in place. Our Christmas tree doesn't even come out till around 22nd and there's no massive big shop to do as there's only the two of us and our day is spent lounging about in front of the TV - (or maybe in the craft space if I can't wait!!)

Thanks for looking today - appreciate you finding time to come and see me.  Have a great day whatever you're doing. x

Viv your ornament card is just gorgeous ... wonderful job watercolouring ... and funny that you mention quiet block and I'm of the same thoughts, maybe everyone is busy...my cards are all sent too and I'm definitely not stressing about anything else I love Christmas but think there's too much commercial hype. It'll be mostly a quiet relaxing time for us after our morning brunch with the two little granddaughters. Happy Christmas hugs Robyn

Your card is beautiful. It can get quiet from right before Thanksgiving until after the New Year. [Bunny]

Beautiful baubles in lovely tradition colours Viv and that is the perfect shade of red. It is very quiet and I have noticed a difference in the amount of visitors to my blog too. Like you I don't have a tremendous amount of shopping to do and we will be on our own for Christmas and won't be putting much up in the way of decorations. Unlike you though I have not really started making any Christmas cards yet and I think a bit of batch making will have to be applied. I have had so much other cardmaking recently that seasonal cards have not been on the menu...lol. I think quite a few people will be getting a bought card this year..shock..horror! I have said to myself that I am not going to feel guilty about this though I probably will. x

Your card is absolutely stunning, Viv! I have this as NBUS and I appreciate the inspiration! I really love your red w/c and the evergreen bed for your ornaments to sit on! And, yes, everything is quiet in Blogland this month. Including me. For me it's because it takes a couple of straight weeks of solid Christmas card-making for me to get them finished. And we had company here for five days over Thanksgiving which put me behinder and meant I couldn't visit blogs and comment then either. I just hope everything picks up again in January and we aren't loosing ore and more bloggers to Instagram. Happy Holidays!! Hugs, Darnell

Fabulous card. I love those baubles. When I first went to painting classes we were given an apple to paint . The second one was a house with a couple going inside it. When the teacher came and looked at mine she asked where the figures were. I said they had already gone inside the house.!! I have switched to water colouring now. Yes I had noticed traffic had slowed down more than it usually does. I’m still 20 cards short of what need so today’s job is rustle up some more. Like you there is only the two of us. We go and see the kids back in November and take all their presents up and have a pre Christmas celebration then as they both have the other halves families around on the day. Hugs Mrs A.

I think next year should see a blogger drive to recreate the friendliness of blogging Viv. Unfortunately Instagram (whatever that it) seems to have taken over. Anyway here I am popping by to say I love your card..what a lovely stamp. I hope hubby reads your post..lol! have a good week. xx

This is really stunning! It's not that easy to get such beautiful results, so I'd say your watercolour skills are great:) Thanks for sharing at PBSC:)

You created such a lovely watercolour masterpiece here Viv and I love how the light is shining on the baubles. I really struggle with watercolour and this is such an inspiration. I do agree that blogland is much quieter in December but hopefully, we'll all be back in January.
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and thanks for sharing with us at ABC Christmas Challenges.
