Last Day of Summer?

I had a couple of pieces of card lying on the desk - I used to save all little offcuts of card but was in danger of being buried under a paper mountain of tiny bits🗻 so have got into the habit of only keeping card if it is of a reasonable useful size. (Wasteful I know but I used to spend hours searching in the 'bits box' and invariably ended up not having a 'bit' big enough for what I wanted!)

So now the 'bits box' only has bigger pieces in it and this card was made with them.

I took a piece of card which was the exact perfect size for a panel and used a Stampasurus stencil for my background blending with Speckled Egg and Picked Raspberry.

My stamp is from Altenew's Just Because set - this was it's first use!
After stamping I fussy cut.✂
I thought about colouring the flower bouquet bit decided it would make more impact left.

I added a small strip of black card under the flower (another odd bit!)
The sentiment and die word is from Technique Tuesday.

Yesterday we had a day out at the seaside - it was warm and sunny, there was hardly anyone on the beach (I collected a couple of 'keepsake' shells which I am going to use for a small canvas).
After our beach walk we sat on the prom looking out at the blue sky and the sea and had a fish and chip lunch - it was just a perfect day.

Today our weather has ended up being grey, cool and windy! So maybe we made the most of the last day of summer?
Thanks for visiting me today.
I am more reliant than ever on contact with my blogging buddies as the months go by and the virus remains with us.

Stay safe and well wherever in the world you are. x

A lovely card Viv. Hubby and I are just trying to work out which seaside you went to, was is Morecambe? We were just thinking it could be with the tide being so far out. I know what you mean about relying on blogging friends, I have to admit that I’ve not always been the greatest fan of social media and I still don’t ever post anything on my own FB page, I only joined to be able to join in crafting challenges but it’s great to be able to interact with other to chat about our crafting on stamping groups. The weather has been lovely here today but the storm clouds are now moving in. Take care and keep on crafting x

It's a lovely card Viv, I like how you have left the flower uncoloured. I'm so envious of your day out, can't remember when we last were at the seaside.

A striking card and leaving the flowers uncoloured was the right decision. I do hope that wasn't the last day of summer but this morning it looks as if you may well be right. Thanks for sharing the wonderful pictures of the solitary beach scene, looks idyllic. As you say thank goodness for blogging friends and crafting to keep us occupied in these trying times. Hugs - socially distance of course 😷. I'm doing my best not to feel too despondent.

Beautiful card, magnificent "bits". You've used those bits and made the biggest impact, I too believe the b&w image gives more punch.

Hang in there! We're all doing what we can, but it's hard I know! At least you enjoyed your day in the sun. We had a couple sunny days, but we're back to the smoky skies again from the fires

A real eye catching card Viv. I love the stencilling with the two colours and keeping the fussy cut bouquet of flowers uncoloured looks perfect. I like the scale of the die cut 'you' too....x What a lovely day you had at the beach x.

Hi Viv

A beautiful card .. .. love the background you have created.

Great seaside picks too. They make a pleasant change to the ones I have seen on the TV where folks have been been crowding on them without social distancing! You clearly didn't have any problem with that!! LOL!!

Love Jules xx

wonderful background, I think you made the right decision to leave the bouquet uncoloured, it adds a sense of style. The black strip is a masterful addition to the design. I am like you, I no longer keep all the little bits because they never get used and take up so much space. So glad you shared some picks of your wonderful trip to the seaside, my perfect kind of place. We are suffering with wind and rain at the moment and I haven't got warm all day xx

So pleased you had a lovely day out and unfortunately the weather has been very different since, and it is very windy and cool here now. We also went for a walk by the sea and made the most of the sun that day. What an elegant card and love the two colours you used, the speckled egg goes so well with the picked raspberry, and the flowers are perfect left white and really stand out against the background, especially with the strip of black card too. Take care. x

I do love these cards made from off cuts.. This all works so perfectly together! Wonderful photos! I have so missed the beach this year...sigh. I'm just thankful that at least we have a garden of sorts and my heart goes out to all those who don't even have that. Stay safe and well.

A wonderful card Viv - as always you made it beautifully. Your day at the seaside looks so peaceful - and fish and chips in the fresh air, can't be beaten! I've emailed you about your lovely package - a few days ago now.

Sorry I'm late commenting!
