Visitors to my blog will know that on Sunday here I made a wild statement to try and join in as many of the CAS Mix Up and Sister blog challenges as I could. My intentions were good at that time - and then............
I saw this months challenge at CAS Watercolour.
Vellum .... I mean VELLUM???? Vellum hates me. I don't know why, it just does.
But a statement of intent is a statement of intent - so I found the vellum (thrown away in a drawer in disgust no doubt) and looked at it.
It stared back at me. I still looked at it. It still stared back at me.
I looked at it and before it got a chance to look back I decided to use it - to use as little as possible - but to use it.
I count the Cherry Blossom stamp from Technique Tuesday as one of my faves. Cherry Blossom reminds me of Spring and I love Spring when everything is starting to grow and flower.
I stamped and white embossed.
I imprisoned the hated vellum in a frame of tape (stuck down as hard as I could to get my own back) and used my watercolour pencils to colour.
When dry I reluctantly released it from it's tape prison .... and then cut it up. (Revenge is mine👿👿)
Fussy cut the 3 flowers and dotted teeny blobs of liquid pearls onto the stamens.
I die cut and watercoloured a branch and a frame and used one of the very first EF's ever bought (Oriental Set) as the Cherry Blossom EF I thought was a good background .
Mounted the embossed piece behind the frame.
A simple stamped sentiment finished it off.
And I finished the vellum off by returning it to it's dark drawer!!
Am sharing this over at
Flower Challenge - A/Goes
Allsorts - Fave Season (Spring)
CAS on Friday - Vellum
Daisy Chain - Spring
Thanks for looking! x

This is beautiful. Well done with the vellum, I must admit when I saw the challenge I cringed-water and vellum! I may attempt it emboldened by your success.
Indeed. I agree about vellum. A diificult kind of paper. But it gives a beautiful effect. Your card is beautiful. Need no more. Just beautiful.
You've done a marvellous job with your hated piece of vellum and chosen a great embossing folder to go with the cherry blossom. Brilliant.
This really is pretty Viv..so delicate and vellum always gives a stunning effect. I hope the remainder will see light of day after this success. Beautiful!! xx
Your post did make me laugh I feel exactly the same way I have some hidden carefully away somewhere too lol--BUT your card is stunning the flowers are gorgeous and love the embossed background

Your post made me smile but I don’t know why you hate the vellum as you have made a beautiful job of it and your card is lovely
You must have scared that vellum, Viv, because it worked perfectly for you! Love, love, love these cherry blossoms! A gorgeous card! You may want to let that vellum out again. LOL. Thanks so much for sharing with us at CAS Watercolour!
The thought of using vellum and water scared the heck out of me too Viv and I'm on the DT at CAS Watercolour!! Check out my post to see what my 1st attempt looked like...a warped mess!! I'm so glad you got brave and showed that vellum you weren't afraid of it because your card is STUNNING!! And great idea to use water color pencils...why didn't I think of that?! Lovely, lovely card! Thanks so much for sharing this beauty with us at CAS Watercolour!! :0)

Viv, you won this battle with Vellum in the most spectacular way!! I agree, it can be a pain to work with it but, if you persevere, the results are amazing.
Love the white embossing and vibrant colors on your flowers and the embossing folder is just about the perfect match.
Gorgeous card Viv, I really, really hope you wont give up on using Vellum on your cards, you conquered it on this beauty.
Thank you so much for playing with us at THE FLOWER CHALLENGE, hope you play again (with Vellum) soon.

Well, you certainly showed the vellum who was boss, Viv!! :) This is one gorgeou vellum watercoloured card! I LOVE the texture and design of your dry embossed background with white framing. Those gorgeous pink cherry blossoms just pop against all the white. The pearls are the perfect finishing touch. Great work Viv!! Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Watercolour! xx
What a beauty you created with the gorgeous flowers and embossing!
Thank you so much for joining us at Allsorts challenge where it's all about our favorite seasons!
The vellum cherry blossom is so so pretty Viv, and using the cherry blossom EF in the background is an inspired choice, and the framing certainly adds a touch of elegance. I love your piece about the love/hate relationship you have with vellum, and I know what you mean, but you have made using it look like a walk in the park. x
Well what on earth was all that fuss about !! Your vellum cherry blossom is superb. Love the way your card has come together. Now just you go and get the rest of the vellum back out and use it. Hugs Mrs A.
It looks like you've mastered the watercolour on vellum!! I love your pretty blossoms and the design of your card. In answer to your question, I attached the backing panel after I stamped. As I mentioned I had quite a few attempts:) Goodluck! Thanks so much for giving this a goe and sharing at the CAS Watercolour Challenge.
Looks perfect to me! Gorgeous! I seem to struggle with vellum warping, so I can totally relate! Kudos for a beautiful product though!
Ha ha, great post, Viv! Congratulations on your victory over the vellum! I know just what you mean, I have a love-hate relationship with the stuff and rarely use it, although I have plenty hidden away somewhere. But your beautiful card is definitely the winner, absolutely gorgeous.
