Try It On Tuesday - new challenge

Our challenge theme at Try It On Tuesday for the next two weeks is HEARTS AND/OR FLOWERS

I was having a bit of a mooch through a box of odd pieces saved from other makes when I found two pieces left over from an acrylic dirty pour a long time back.

Looking at them I wondered why I kept a couple of them cos they were very small and odd shaped but obviously I was psychic as they fitted perfectly into the idea I had in my head for this challenge!

I embossed a piece of cardstock for some texture on the background then die cut my heart from the biggest saved piece.

I used the other small pieces to paper piece the flowers.
Am not sure whether I will use this as an anniversary card or another occasion so currently no sentiment!

I need to do this technique a little more often as I really enjoy it and you never know what patterns and designs are going to turn out!

Hope that you can find time to join us this challenge - look forward to seeing your creations as always! x

More messy!

TIOT's  'Lets Get Messy' challenge is mid way through - I am normally a precise orderly person but I do like to make a mess occasionally!
Having said I like precision I often wonder why I am so drawn to acrylic pouring - it's anything but precise and of course it's messy! But I LOVE it! Here's a make.

This is a rescue piece. It was double the size when it started (see pics below).
I am (and always have been) madly impatient and waiting round for stuff to dry frustrates me no end.
There was a rather nice dark blue swirly pool on this piece and I touched it ๐Ÿ‘‡ to see if it was dry.... it wasn't.๐Ÿ˜ก

My smudgy fingerprints stood out in all their glory - (a crime scene investigator would have been delighted)- and nothing to be done except to chop it off - (the smudgy bit not my actual fingers...)
So this is the bit that didn't have the smudges on.
Added a die cut seahorse with a little bit of blingy greeny blue glittery stuff and some coral type foliage.

Finished it off with a bit of twine and some green liquid pearl dots.

Maybe next time I will remember not to stick my fingers into wet paint.....
.........but then again!

Still time for you to join us at TIOT this week! x

April CAS Mix Up Mid Month reminder

Our 'Paper Piecing' challenge set by Linda is mid way through at CAS Mix Up.

I chose this rose from the Visible Image 'Flower Art' set.
Having had a massive (and I mean MASSIVE) clear out of most of my paper pads I began a search for something to use.

Some time back I had a little play with Acrylic Dirty Pour - I made several cards with my finished piece and I had a teeny 2" square piece left which I kept - (only cos I was so proud of myself for mastering the technique๐Ÿ˜Š) -  and I found it whilst scrabbling through a small box of patterned off-cuts which I had kept.

I started by using a 'stone wall' stamp as a background inked in Smokey Grey before stamping the rose.

I fiddled about a bit with the rose head on the dirty pour piece as there was a lot of black/grey tones on the saved bit and I wanted more of the red/pink and although the rose head is quite dark I am quite pleased with the result.

And I couldn't bear to throw out the remainder of the poured piece - I tucked the cut out bits under the card so what you can see is all there is left so probably not enough to use for anything else but it's gone back in the box anyway!

Dirty Leftovers Part 1!

Following on from my last post this is the 2nd card made with my finished 'Dirty Pour'. I've  a smallish square bit left which will be subject to a third and final post in due course!! But I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who visited and left me so many wonderful amazing comments - I was happy with my card but even happier that you all took the time to visit!
I have no idea why this frame looks like it isn't square! Cos it is...........................

Anyway -the background of the frame was the leftover piece from the embossed background on the first card.

I stamped a few grassy bits in Smokey Grey ink, then added a couple of pale pink flowerheads and a couple of small dots.

The flower is a die I have had for a while and never used and happily two small pieces cut off from the heart fitted so I was able to paper piece.
I haven't added a sentiment yet as can't make my mind up!

The same with the middle of the frame that I now have left over and have to decide what to do with it! Such decisions!!

Dirty Technique!

I have made such a mess!
Not that's anything unusual - but I have made more of a mess than normal..... I was going to take some pics of the desk but decided it would be unfair to those of a nervous disposition!
This mess though is another to add to my list of  - FUN THINGS TO DO!
I have been DESPERATE to try the Acrylic Dirty Pour Technique and this months challenge at CAS MIX UP is to use Acrylic Paint - so bought a very cheap set of acrylic paints and watched millions of videos - well 3 or 4 anyway....

I covered the desk with some plastic, donned a pair of rubber gloves and had a few practice sessions mixing small amounts of all kinds of daft colours and pouring onto on odd bits of card  - (now I know why it's called DIRTY pour!) - before I was confident enough to use a piece of precious Yupo.

I AM SOOOOOO PLEASED WITH MYSELF! Turned out pretty well I think? Even the critic in the room said it was 'cool'!!!

Added bonus is I have quite a bit left
after cutting out my heart so have made another card (a later share) and have a small piece left for a third!

It's CAS MIX UP's 4th Birthday too so Happy Birthday and thanks for setting challenges which make me try out new things!

TIOT also has a challenge of New Technique so am linking my dirty poured heart (๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜) over there too
and popping in at Crafty Gals Corner where the challenge is Add a Heart!

Can recommend having a go at this if you've not done it before - there's something simply amazing watching the paints run into each other and make yummy patterns - and it's well worth the mess! x
